Time Zone Behavior in CrewCenter

    Overview

Roles: Admin, Supervisor, Employee | Interface: Web, Mobile

CrewCenter uses a project-centric time zone model to ensure accuracy and consistency for teams working across different regions. This article explains how the system handles time zone scenarios, visual indicators and best practices for entering and viewing time.

    Supported Time Zone Scenarios

CrewCenter accommodates two primary scenarios to maintain data integrity regardless of a user's physical location.

    • Everything in One Time Zone: In this scenario, the Tenant, Project and Users are all set to the same time zone (e.g., Europe/Berlin).

Behavior: All times are consistent across the system and no time zone indicators are displayed.

    • Users Operating in Different Time Zones: This occurs when the Tenant and Project are in one time zone (e.g., Bucharest, GMT+2), but the User is in a different time zone (e.g., Berlin, GMT+1).

Behavior: CrewCenter displays visual indicators and handles time conversions automatically to ensure the project records the correct local time.

    Key Flows and User Experience

The system is designed to prioritize the Project Time Zone as the authoritative time for all records.

    Live Clock-In (Mobile)

When your device time zone differs from the project or tenant time zone, a time zone chip appears.

    • Indicator: A globe icon and offset label (e.g., GMT+2) appear on the screen.

    • Conversion Example: If a user in Berlin (GMT+1) clocks in at 16:22 local time, the system records the entry as 17:22 in the Bucharest (GMT+2) project time.

Editing Time Entries (Mobile and Web)

    • Different Time Zone: You must enter time according to the project’s time zone. An indicator will remind you of this requirement.
    • Same Time Zone: No indicator appears, and you can enter time as usual.
    • Validation: Entering your local time instead of the project time may cause errors, such as accidentally blocking an entry by attempting to save a "future" time.

Viewing Time Entries (Mobile and Web)

All time entries are displayed in the project’s time zone by default. This ensures that what you see on your Timesheet or Summary screen matches the project’s official records.

    Timecard Management in Post Mode

Creating and reviewing timecards follows the same logic as live tracking to prevent payroll discrepancies.

    Adding a Timecard

If your device time zone differs from the project, a reminder indicator appears. You must manually enter the start and end times based on the project's local time.

    Viewing and Editing Timecards

Always check for the time zone chip (globe icon) when reviewing history or editing existing timecards. Tapping the chip provides additional details about the time zone conversion.

    Tips and Best Practices

    Check for Indicators
Always look for the globe icon or time zone chip when clocking in or editing time.

    Use Project Time
Only enter times that correspond to the project's local clock.

    Supervisor Oversight
Remind team members to pay attention to time zone warnings, especially when traveling or working remotely across regions.
